2006-10-03 - Best and Worst
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch
of incredulity..." - Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities.
Psalm 139:23-24 (MSG) Investigate my life, O God, find
out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of
what I'm about; See for yourself whether I've done anything wrong-then guide
me on the road to eternal life.
Take time to examine your life with God. Each night consider the day that
has passed. Each week, reflect on the seven days of life God has given you.
As you and God together examine how you have spent the time, ask yourself
these two questions:
-
What have I done that would make God the proudest to call me his child?
-
What have I done that would make God the saddest today?
Now prayerfully discuss God with both and ask him to continue to help you
with the first and to strengthen you as you seek to improve in the second
in the days ahead. Give God your best but also surrender your worst that
he might make it better.
Ephesians 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly,
not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the
days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding
what the will of the Lord is.
Give your life for the Lord; he gave his for you!
