2006-09-06 - God Is My
Eyewitness
There's a man sitting on a bench, over there in the distance. Can you see
him? He is under the trees, shaded from the sun. The man watches people as
they walk past. They go so fast, busy trying to manage and handle life, that
it passes them by. The man just sighs.
Yet strangers, he knows these people's names, their deepest and darkest secrets,
their fondest memories, and the dreams they keep wishing will come true,
but never do.
This is no ordinary man; some call him a Savior. He reaches toward the walkers,
as a means of support, along life's narrow path. But they continue to walk
on alone.
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in
your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11 NIV
And when it seems all is lost, and there is no one to care for them, it starts
to rain - ah, the refreshment of Spring. The people head to safety, a means
of temporary escape. Soon the rain ends, and the public return to their fast
paces. The man decides his deed is done, and decides to head for home. As
he gets up from the bench to leave, he spots you in the distance.
When he draws closer he notices you've been crying. Without hesitation, he
reaches his hand toward you, but jerks it back, expecting rejection. Instead,
you reach out your hand and begin to wipe his tears away.
Take comfort in the fact that God watches you. From Heaven,
the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place, He watches
all who live on earth-He who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything
they do. Psalm 33:13-15
God, I don't want to be one of those who grieve you.
I am reassured in knowing you are always watching over me. In Jesus' name
I pray, Amen.
