2005-12-31 - Prayers
Greetings My Friends,
I hope that you had a great Christmas. I enjoyed Christmas this year in spite
of hurricane Katrina.
In all of the chatter over Katrina that there was racial discrimination over
whether one person was rich or poor, it doesn't really matter - because the
meaning of the name Katrina is "Pure."
Katrina wiped out the lives of the rich and poor. Katrina didn't discriminate.
I know a few of the rich people that lived in the wealthiest part of New
Orleans, the subdivision known as Lakeview, which is along the 17th street
canal. I also know a few of the poor people who lived in the poorest part
New Orleans, known as the lower 9th ward, which is along the industrial canal.
Both Lakeview and the Lower 9th Ward were totally wiped out by Katrina. The
people in the areas of Texas, Louisiana, including New Orleans, deep in
Mississippi and all along the Gulf Cost need your prayers.
This brings me to the topic of Prayers.
According to God's Word in James 5:13-16
The Prayer of Faith
James 5:13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray.
Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of
you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint
him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered
in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he
has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins
to each other and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer
of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
A prayer offered in faith by a righteous man is powerful and effective and
will make a sick person well.
Many people in the area described as living in the hurricane Katrina and
Rita affected areas, both rich and poor, are struggling with Post-Traumatic
Stress Syndrome right now, because they have lost their homes, their jobs,
loved ones, and everything that they once held dear.
It's not the worst thing to lose everything, as long as you have your life,
because then you still have the chance to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior
- and receive the Gift of eternal life that he longs to give to you. This
is the most valuable gift you could ever receive. It's an eternal gift that
you can't lose, and can't be taken from you.
Please if you are born again, please pray for the people who are in the Katrina-
and Rita- affected areas, that they might turn to Christ, put their trust
in Him and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Pray that the Lord will heal
them from the trauma and tragedy that they have experienced, and will give
them new life in Him.
If you aren't born again, and would like to know what it means to be born
again, please email me.
My friends, have a blessed New Year.
In Christ,
Rob
