[CF Devotionals] 2005-09-04 - Oh to be Like Thee

Psalm 9, Part 7

It is written: "`As surely as I live,' says the Lord, `every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God'."" (Romans 14:11)

Final Comments:

"... we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

Let us pray the Holy Spirit makes this truth real to us. Let's put this verse on the bathroom mirror, on the "fridge," on the steering wheel of the car, on our desk at work, on the door to the children's room, or in big letters in the checkbook. Let us make this truth a foundation stone of our prayer life. We know that God loves us, and if we live in love of Him, desiring our lives to be instruments for Him, saying life comes from God and nowhere else, then we can live in the comfort of knowing that no matter how difficult things get, God will work a miracle and bring out something beautiful for His glory, something that will last for an eternity.

Our lives, as we grow in Him through the process of pruning, of honing, bring glory to God. We are the manifestation of the glory of God!

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Let that glory shine through.

O to be like Thee! blessed Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I'll forfeit all of earth's treasures,
Jesus, They perfect likeness to wear.

O to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind;
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wand'ring sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! While I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and heaven above.

O to be like Thee! O to be like Thee!
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart. 4
