2006-06-29 - Source versus
Storage
Do you think Hydrogen is a source of energy?
It is not; it simply is a way of storing energy. It must be made by using
an energy source such as natural gas, nuclear power or coal. The energy used
to make the hydrogen is accumulated in the hydrogen.
What about us? Are we a source of energy or love? No, we simply are a storehouse
of love. Where does our source of energy, and more importantly our source
of love, come from? God is the conduit of love into our lives.
God is the never-ending source of love that is stored inside of us through
the Holy Spirit. Just as cars can't run on water, we can't run on our own
devices, without the catalysts of God's energy and love to covert us from
just water to salt and light. Our love is replenished when we tap into God's
inexhaustible love for us.
Just as hydrogen is typically formed by separating the hydrogen atoms from
water, our love is made by separating our self-centered humanistic love and
earthly desires from God's pure love.
Are you tapping into God's love daily, so your love for others will grow?
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to simply Love God and Love People.
It is a two-step process: Obtain the love for and from God - and store it
up, and then pour it out on others.
Matthew 22:36-40 (NLT) Teacher, which is the most important
commandment in the law of Moses? Jesus replied, You must love the Lord your
God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first
and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor
as yourself. All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets
are based on these two commandments.
Lord, help us to tap into your power and love. Help
us to become accumulators and dispensers of Your love to others. In Christ's
name, Amen.
