Sin?

We, as Christians, are increasingly becoming numbed to sin. It seems as if
more and more sin has become an old-fashioned word. In some churches,
it isn't even used in "sermons".
On television we see sexual acts portrayed in front of us, the language used
now at one time was banned. The commercials are addressed to the "gotta-have-it"
natures of our beings. And we watch. The music of the world addresses
love as a momentary thing. We hear people falling in "love",
taking care of the moment and moving on to the next "love". And we listen.
Our clothes are often the clothes of the world. We go to church wearing our
beautiful clothes, made fancy in our beautiful jewelry, driven in our beautiful
cars, but our souls are rotten to the core with what we see and hear. As
Paul said, These things ought not to be. Our standards
should not be the same as what we see and hear. How often do we cry
out against what God cries out against? Do we exhort each other from the
Scriptures? Do we speak to each other in hymns and spiritual songs? Do we
lift each other up in prayer and with calls of encouragement?
Psalm 14:2-4a -The Lord looked down from heaven upon the
children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none
that doeth good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge?
(KJV)
We cry out against the big things, but, too often we sit in our homes watching
what is shown us on TV, listening to the music on our radios. We often say
that someone should do something about the condition of the world,
but rarely do we venture out into the world to help people to see what is
right. We forget that, often, the ones who should be doing something is us.
Ephesians 5:1-4 - Be ye therefore followers of God, dear
children; and walk in love, as Christ hath loved us, and hath given himself
for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smeeling savor. But
fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetness, let it not be once named
among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor
jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving thanks. (KJV)
Make a difference in someones life today. Have a difference in your
life today.
Power in the Blood
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood,
Power in the blood
Would you o'er evil the victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.
-Lewis E. Jones
My Father, please forgive me. I seem to forget what
You have called me for. I have noticed, Lord, that what I listen to and what
I watch determines what I think about. Lord, You said "Whatsoever things
are pure, whatsoever things are good....to think upon these things". Lord,
I know that when my days are filled with pictures and songs of the world,
I don't think about You and Your will. Please forgive me for ignoring Your
nudgings. Teach to hate what You hate, and to love what You love. Thank you
for Your grace, thank You for Your mercy, and thank You, thank You for Your
love. Amen
