2005-01-15 - Passion

Hey Friends,

I hope you are doing okay. I want you to know that I am praying for you, that God will guide you to where He wants you to be, to join him in his work of seeking and saving the lost, and for your salvation if you are lost.

What are you up to? Monday, I had to go to a couple of yearly doctor appointments check-ups, and get new eye glasses....

Afterward I went by the Seminary and picked up my books for the spring 2005 semester. And finally, I went to visit a friend - and ended up counseling my friend and her boyfriend individually.

It's was a great day for me. As I started out to run errands and go to doctor appointments on my Honda Elite 80 motor scooter, I was thinking about the Tsunami, and I sang a song that came to memory, written in 1993 sung by a Christian group called New Song. It's called All Around the World.

A few lines of the lyrics hit home and made me think.

The first is "All around the world, Can't you hear creation calling, Make way soon the Saviour's coming, All around the World, Creation is calling out."

It made me think of what's happening in the world today, and of all people - War, Terror, Natural Disaster, Tsunami, Hurricanes, Earthquakes.

The next is "So let us not become entangled by the trappings of this world."

It made me think of myself and others - Sin, things that hinder and separate us in our relationship with God and other people [TV, lust, our fleshly desires, sex, overeating, depression, hate, violence, thinking of ourselves over other people's needs, etc.], those things that stop us from sharing God's love through the Gospel with others in the world.

The next line is "Let Him come and find us faithful to the call."

It made me think of doing the work He came to do and charged us with, to seek and save the lost by sharing the Gospel with them and pointing them to Christ as the only way, truth and life, the redeemer of our souls, the one who paid for our sins. And all we have to do is turn to Him and repent of our sin and the ways we believe we are going to save ourselves, to believing that He did the work to save us and restore us to Himself. And all we have to do is turn to him, believe in Him and place our trust in Him as Saviour and Lord. Loving others over self, saciaficing my self, compassion, mercy, passion for God and others.

The last part of the lyrics repeated the above thoughts, as I drove throughout the day.

Get ready He's coming like He said

Open your eyes
Everywhere there are signs
Telling us the time is near
It's a truth we can't ignore
This old world can't take much more"

I hope this reaches your heart, touches you right where you are hurting, and brings you the joy I have, as I focus on Christ, the one who is sovereign, and loves us and chastises those he loves, and comforts us through the Holy Spirit.
