Prayer, Part 2

When Jabez spoke to God it wasn’t long but right to the point.

Jabez was more distinguished then any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because she had such a hard time at his birth (Jabez means “Distress”). He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would wonderfully bless me and help me in my work; please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all evil and disaster!” And God granted him his request. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10 TLB)

When Jabez prayed he asked God for:

• Blessings and help
• God's presence
• Safety from all harm

God, Please bless me and help me with everything that I have to do. I’d appreciate Your company everywhere I go. Keep me from any disaster or evil. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
