Day 2 Cover Story
To read more about today's cover story, see Luke 18:35-43 below.
For one man, recently belief turned into seeing.
Jesus made quite an impression when He was traveling in Jericho-He headed
a blind man. The beggar recalled sitting by the road when he heard people
go by. They told the man Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. So the beggar
called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me," (Luke
18:38 NIV). The crowd hushed the blind beggar . This made him shout
more and got Jesus' attention.
When Jesus and the beggar came face-to-face Jesus asked him, "What do you
want me to do for you?" Without hesitation, the man replied,
"Lord, I want to see" (Luke 18:41 NIV).
Jesus responded, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed
you" (Luke 18:42 NIV). The blind man got his sight back, followed
Jesus, and praised God - as did the crowd of witnesses.
As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by
the roadside begging. When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was
happening. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." He called out,
"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Those who led the way rebuked him
and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have
mercy on me!"
Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him.
When he came near, Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?"
"Lord, I want to see," he replied. Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight;
your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed
Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God. (Luke
18:35-42 NIV)
Do you think seeing is really believing?
Lord, I want to belief just like the blind man. I don't
want to give up until You hear me. I also want to see You and see the people
I can be a friend to, the people who need help. Show me how to focus on others.
In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
