2004-01-29 - Trusting God
Encore 97-12-07
Sometimes we go through times in life when it feels like God Himself has
pulled the rug right out from under us. Dazed and now on the floor, we look
around and say, What just hit me? Our trials should lead us more
and more to a trusting dependance upon God and His gracious favor towards
us in Christ. This said, sometimes trusting God can be difficult at best.
Gods Word gives us a lot of encouragement to trust Him.
2 Chronicles 20:20 ...Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants
of Jerusalem, put your trust in the Lord your God, and you will be established...
2 Corinthians 1:9 indeed, we had the sentence of death
within ourselves in order that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God
who raises the dead.
Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And
trust in the Lord.
Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the
Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.
Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear
the Lord and turn away from evil.
Some of the benefits of trusting God are: Happiness (Psalm 5:11), Deliverance
(Psalm 22:4, 5), Success (Psalm 25:2, 3), Gods goodness (Psalm 31:19),
Loving-kindness (Psalm 32:10), Provision (Psalm 37:3, 5), Blessedness (Psalm
40:4), Safety (Psalm 56:4, 11), Refuge (Psalm 73:28), Guidance (Proverbs
3:5, 6), and Inheritance (Isaiah 57:13)
The Lords lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For
His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness
Lamentations 3:22, 23
Soli Deo Gloria,
