2003-04-15 - The Courage to Serve God
Encore 1998-10-19
Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord God! Behold, Thou hast made
the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm!
Nothing is too difficult for You.
We serve a mighty God, who created everything around us. We have His power
to support us in our efforts to serve Him. The domain of God includes everything.
"His dominion will be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the
ends of the earth." Zech. 9:10
"Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world", Matthew 28:20.
This promise was made to the eleven remaining disciples before He ascended
into heaven. But the promise is just as true for us. This promise is a pledge,
personally from Christ to anyone who will serve Him and His Kingdom.
While we still live in the world we have been called out of it. We live in
the world as ambassadors representing Christ. As ambassadors we can not be
doubting, but rather we must demonstrate the truth with power. We are to
speak the truth truly.
In addition we must have the courage to stand for truth without wavering.
We live in a world were every belief is tolerated. The exception is the belief
that there is but one truth. But this is the claim of the Christian. The
Christian proclaims one truth exclusively and that is the revelation of God
to us in His Word.
It takes courage to live the Christian life. It takes courage because it
seems that much is stacked against us. The reality, however, is that God,
the Creator of the heavens and the earth is by our side and nothing can overpower
Him.
"A man with God by his side is always in the majority." John Knox
