As is our habit on Saturday evenings, we present to you Biblical passages
about a topic, with little or no commentary. Our hope is that the Bible will
speak for itself, to your heart. Today, we will read passages about God's
presence with His people - in the form of the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit. All Scriptures today are from The Amplified Bible.
Exodus 33:11-14 And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face,
as a man speaks to his friend. Moses returned to the camp, but his minister
Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the [temporary prayer]
tent. Moses said to the Lord, See, You say to me, Bring up this people, but
You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You said, I know
you by name and you have also found favor in My sight. Now therefore, I pray
You, if I have found favor in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may
know You [progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with
You, perceiving and recognizing and understanding more strongly and clearly]
and that I may find favor in Your sight. And [Lord, do] consider that this
nation is Your people. And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you,
and I will give you rest.
Psalm 89:14-15 Righteousness and justice are the foundation
of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before Your face.
Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are the people who know the joyful
sound [who understand and appreciate the spiritual blessings symbolized by
the feasts]; they walk, O Lord, in the light and favor of Your
countenance!
Hosea 6:1-2 COME AND let us return to the Lord, for He
has torn so that He may heal us; He has stricken so that He may bind us up.
After two days He will revive us (quicken us, give us life); on the third
day He will raise us up that we may live before Him.
Nahum 1:2-5 The Lord is a jealous God and avenging; the
Lord avenges and He is full of wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries
and reserves wrath for His enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in
power and will by no means clear the guilty. The Lord has His way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes
and threatens the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan
[on the east] and Mount Carmel [on the west] wither, and [in the north] the
blossom of Lebanon fades. The mountains tremble and quake before Him and
the hills melt away, and the earth is upheaved at His presence--yes, the
world and all that dwell in it. Who can stand before His indignation
1 John 3:18-20 Little children, let us not love [merely]
in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).
By this we shall come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that
we are of the Truth, and can reassure (quiet, conciliate, and pacify) our
hearts in His presence, Whenever our hearts in [tormenting] self-accusation
make us feel guilty and condemn us. [For we are in God's hands.] For He is
above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows (perceives
and understands) everything [nothing is hidden from Him].
Matthew 28:19-20 Go then and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit,Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded
you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and
on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen
(so let it be).
John 16:7-8 7However, I am telling you nothing but the
truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you
that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper,
Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into
close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to
be in close fellowship with you]. And when He comes, He will convict and
convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about
righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about
judgment.
John 14:25-26 I have told you these things while I am
still with you. But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate,
Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My
name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you
all things. and He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to
your remembrance) everything I have told you.
