Have you ever seen the movie, Field of Dreams? Great movie, even better message.
For those of you who haven't seen the movie, Go see it! For now, I'll explain
it. This guy buys a farm and is out in the corn field, and hears a voice
say, "If you build it, he will come." So he looks around and sees a baseball
field. He decides to actually build that field. Then a whole bunch of dead
baseball players come and play on the field; then he hears the voice again,
and it tells him to "Ease his pain." so he goes and finds some guy - and
then they go and find some other guy - and then they go back to the field.
He is going to lose the farm because he doesn't have any money, because he
spent it on the field. Then a whole bunch of people come, and after that,
he comes. If you want to know who he is, go watch the movie.
Anyway, the point behind this was that this guy, Ray, hears a voice - and
even though he doesn't really know what he is doing, or why he is doing it
- he still does it. He travels across the country because a voice (that he
doesn't even know where it comes from) tells him to. This is like us and
God; He tells us to do something, and even though we are in the Koolaid but
don't know the flavor, we still have to do it. (Don't understand it) Who
are we to question the will of God?
Think of the story of Noah. He is 600 years old, lives in the desert, and
God tells him to build an ark because it is going to rain for 40 days and
nights. First of all, the Bible says that before the great flood, God watered
things from beneath the ground, so these people hadn't EVER seen rain, much
less even knew what it was. So Noah has to tell them that God is going to
make water fall from the sky and kill them all. How crazy that must have
sounded to them, but Noah had to believe it. And against every thing he had
ever known, he had to build an ark and gather two of all the animals in the
world.
I don't know what I would have done. I might have just blown it off and said,
"Eh, must have been the wind,. or maybe those crazy kids playin' another
joke on me." Can you imagine hwaving to tell the world that every one of
them was going to die? Woah! In 1 Peter 3: 13-14, it says,"Who is going to
harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what
is right, you are blessed. 'Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.'"

Love you all,
