2003-03-07 - Jello
I am going to bring you a devotional that was given to me by a friend who
was making jello earlier. I asked him if he had anything he wanted me to
write about. Imediately, he said, "Jello." He told me to write about
how God works in our lives. He told me that God works the same why jello
is made. First, God mixes all the ingredients, then sits it in a place where
it can harden and form into a solid. Then He takes it out when it's done,
and brings it into the world and uses it.
God works in our lives every second we live. He gives us what we need, then
He gives us time to sit around and form into something solid. After that,
He will pull us out and use us. We don't know when that will be, or what
He will do with us; we just have to sit back and let Him work. He has plans
for us to prosper, as it says in Jeremiah 29:11. He will pull us out of our
nice, cozy place of growing and will use us. He will throw us into the world
and use us to further His will.
However, before He does that, He gives us what we need. He gives us time
to sit around and chill in the freezer. He will give us a church to grow
in, a place to learn and build our faith. We go to church, go to Bible studies,
hang out with friends. Whatever, it is, He builds us up. He strengthens us,
He gives us what we need. We spend time reading the Bible and studying His
Word every oppurtunity we get.
God uses us every second of our lives. He has this huge plan that we all
fit into, whether we realize what it is or not. He uses us to carry out His
will, exactly how He wants it to unfold. Have you ever had to do something,
like talk to someone, or give a speech, and you plan out how you want it
to work. You might even talk it out in your mind, or outloud. I do all of
them. Sometimes, I know I have to talk to someone, but I don't really know
exactly how it will go. I try to plan it out, so that I know exactly what
I am going to do. Then something happens while I am carrying it out, but
I then I don't know what to do, because I didn't plan for it.
Anyways, if you simply let God deal with it, and carry out His plan, everything
will go well, and it will all work perfectly. We don't have to worry about
whether it will work out alright, because God's got it under control.
So God gives us all the things we need. Then He gives us a nice freezer to
chill in and turn to solid. When we're done, He pulls us out and maybe puts
us in a mold and makes us into something pretty or something. Maybe He puts
some of that mixed fruit in us, or maybe He drops us on the ground and the
dog licks us up. Whereever He puts us, we work for Him, for His will, not
ours.
Are you out on the table, waiting to be eaten? Or are you still chillin'
in the freezer? Or is box of mix not even open yet? Think about it: Where
are you?
