The Bible doesn't speak about dating per se, but there are passages that
Christians should apply to dating activities and relationships. These do
relate to our behavior while we are on dates, what types of people we should
or shouldn't go out with, places we should or shouldn't go etc.
2 Timothy 5:2b (NRSV) {Speak} to younger women as
sisters-with absolute purity.
1 Timothy 4:12 (NRSV) Let no one despise your youth,
but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith,
in purity.
2 Corinthians 6:14-17 (NRSV) Do not be mismatched with
unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness?
Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness? What agreement does
Christ have with Beliar? Or what does a believer share with an unbeliever?
What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of
the living God; as God said,
"I will live in them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
Therefore come out from them,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch nothing unclean;
then I will welcome you."
Ephesians 5:19 (NRSV) Do not get drunk with wine, for
that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit.
Philippians 4:8-9 (NRSV) Finally, beloved, whatever is
true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever
is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there
is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the
things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the
God of peace will be with you.
