2002-05-10 - Blind Trust
Encore from 2000-09-22
Spacewalking astronauts Ed Lu and Yuri Malenchenko listened intently to their comrade Daniel Burbank. They couldn't see what was ahead, but from the cockpit, he could. And they literally put their lives in his hands. "Watch your head." "Don't move right." "Bring your legs straight up." In the exciting but potentially hostile environment of outer space, he was their "eyes" as they climbed to the top of a towering station, where they would erect television cables, a boom for a compass etc. Trust was a vital component of the success of this mission.
Every day, we normally invest trust in many people and objects. We trust that our car will take us safely to our destination. We trust that our family members and friends are telling us the truth. We trust that our home heating systems will not malfunction and poison us with carbon monoxide. Yet we too often fail to trust the One who is perfect, the One who is Omniscient and totally dependable. From God's Cockpit, He can see the past, present and future.
Psa.9:10 (NASB) And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Do you find it hard to trust Him with a treasured relationship, a financial struggle, your G.P.A. or something else important? Remember that He cared enough about your salvation, to sacrifice His own Son for you. He is completely trustworthy. He will never let you down.
Dear Lord, You know that sometimes it is hard for us to trust You. Please help us to grasp that You are totally worthy of our trust. In Jesus' name, amen
