2002-04-20 - Death
Last week, a good friend of our went to be with Jesus. It was a strange time
because, though we mourned the loss of "Whitey" (Charlie), we new that the
scripture is true, "We are confident, I say, and willing
rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians
5:8
Death is the time for those of us who are saved to see face to face, those
things which we could only see through a dark glass.
1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see in a mirror, dimly,
but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then, I shall know just as
I also am known."
During the last weeks of his life, Charlie's wife and children set up a special
room for him. It was a comfortable room that contained all of his Bibles,
books and Christian tapes he listened to. The Lord also prepared a special
room for Charlie.
"Let not your heart be troubled. Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In
my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where am, there
ye may be also."
On our way to church, Rick asked me what I thought Charlie was doing in Heaven.
We knew he would not be suffering anymore; he would have no more pain from
cancer. It is good to think about that. We also thought about how awesome
it must be, to be in the presence of Jesus and all those who have gone home
before us!
1 Corinthians 2:9,10 "But as it is written, eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
that God has prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them
unto us by His spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep
things of God."
During the weeks prior to Charlie's death, many people were able to visit
him. The one thing they repeatedly said was that they "saw Jesus" in Charlie.
What a legacy! How awesome to know that when people remember Charlie, they
will think about Jesus!
In His Service,
Rick & Sandy
