As is our "habit" on Sundays, today's devotional will simply be passages
about a topic, with little commentary. Today's passages will relate to our
habits.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NLT) Don't you know that those who
do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves.
Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male
prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and
swindlers--none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 (NLT) This should be your ambition:
to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands,
just as we commanded you before. As a result, people who are not Christians
will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others
to meet your financial needs.
Proverbs 23:20-21 (NLT) Do not carouse with drunkards
and gluttons, for they are on their way to poverty. Too much sleep clothes
a person with rags.
Ephesians 5:18 (NLT) Don't be drunk with wine, because
that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.
Ephesians 5:19 (RSV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you
richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and
hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Hebrews 10:25 (NIV) Let us not give up meeting together,
as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and
all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NLT) And you must commit yourselves
wholeheartedly to these commands I am giving you today. Repeat them again
and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when
you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting
up again
