2002-01-20 - Passages about Attitudes
As Christians reflecting God's value system, our attitudes should be discernibly different from those of nonbelievers. But I have found that too often, our attitudes reflect the world's value system and not God's. For example, in America, it's "cool" to be cynical. Today we will see a little of what the Bible has to say about our attitudes.
Revelation 3:15-16 (NASB) I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.
Psalm 106:24-26 (NASB) Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe in His word, But grumbled in their tents; They did not listen to the voice of the LORD. Therefore He swore to them That He would cast them down in the wilderness.
Psalm 1:1 (NASB) How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 Timothy 3:1-2 (NASB) But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good.
1 Peter 5:5 (NASB)You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
