2001-02-25 - Passages About Jesus'
Divinity
Some people do not understand that Jesus is God. It is sometimes hard for
our finite minds to grasp and we may not understand fully until we are in
Heaven. We will let the Bible speak for itself on this. All passages today
are from the New King James Version (NKJV).
Jesus as God:
Hebrews 1:6-8 But when He again brings the firstborn into
the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him." And of the angels
He says: "Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire."
But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter
of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you which was also
in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery
to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form
of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
Jesus as God the Word:
John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All
things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Jesus as God the Creator:
Colossians 1:15-19 He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that
are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through
Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
And He is Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient
for us."
Jesus as God the Father:
John 14:8-10 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father,
and it is sufficient for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so
long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip He who has seen Me has seen the
Father; so how can you say, "Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that
I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I
do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the
works.
Jesus as God, in Whose Name We Baptize:
Matt. 28:18-19 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying,
"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore
and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
