2000-11-05 - Passages About Prayers of
Confession
Prayer, Part 4
Today we will read passages about confession, a crucial facet of our Christian
walk and growth. All Scriptures are from the NASB.
-
Confession should be a daily habit for us; in fact, we should confess
as soon as one of our sins is brought to our awareness.
Lev. 5:5 So it shall be when he becomes guilty in one
of these, that he shall confess that in which he has sinned.
-
Confession brings us both spiritual and emotional healing.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Prov. 13:8 He who conceals his transgressions will not
prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
Psa. 38:18 For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety
because of my sin.
-
Confessing to very carefully-selected friends (Christian, confidential,
mature) can keep us accountable in the future.
James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another,
and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer
of a righteous man can accomplish much.
-
An example of a heartfelt confession (The "Prodigal Son"):
Luke 15:21 And the son said to him, "Father, I have sinned
against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your
son."
