Christian Fellowship 1996-10-02 - In Both Worlds

Greetings my dear friends. All verses today are from the New American Standard Version of the Bible.

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God

Romans 12:1-2 I URGE you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

James 4:4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Are any of you like me? Do you have one foot conforming to the world and one foot conforming to God's word? Are you straddling the fence? One side is the pasture of the world and the other side is the green pasture that our Father wants us to be in? Maybe perhaps you keep walking up to the gate and you just can't cross the line into HIS will for your life.

Henri Nouwen writes "As long as we belong to this world, we will remain subject to its competitive ways and expect to be rewarded for all the good we do. But when we belong to God, who loves us without conditions, we can live as HE does. The great conversion called for by Jesus is to move from belonging to the world to belonging to God."

Dear Father, Forgive me for sinning, forgive me for wanting to live both in your kingdom and in this temporal world. Help me Father to cross the line, help me fully immerse myself as a living sacrifice to you. Lord help those he keep walking up to the line only to turn back away from you. Help them to overcome the fear of losing their worldly way of living. Help them see that your way is the best and only way. Oh Father we praise you and thank you for being a patient God. Thank you Lord for helping us enter your narrow gate. Renew us and transform us to be all that You want us to be. Mostly Father thank you for your Son Jesus who is waiting with His arms reaching out to hold us and welcome us into the Kingdom. Thank you for sending Jesus, for HE is the only way to you. It is in His precious name we pray, Amen.
